I am an emerging designer from Mourne, Northern Ireland. During my time at university, I learned techniques in ceramic and CAD design, but chose to specialise in metals, specifically jewellery. I enjoy taking inspiration from stories and exploring the narrative, a concept with which I am currently working. An intertwining and constant inspiration is nature and often history. Despite focusing on metals, I have a love of wool and wood, often choosing to incorporate them in my designs. In 2025 my work was exhibited at Ulster University’s Degree Show.
As long as I can remember my free time has been spent creating, whether imaginatively or physically, and being inspired by the natural world. Books, too, have been my passion, alongside which I took a great interest in history and cultures, an enthusiasm that has only grown, especially towards my own. Being a Christian has shaped the way I view these things and my role as a designer, as I believe man’s ability to create reflects the creator and by creating, I am honouring Him. Much of my work relates to these interests, along with quirky ideas that spring from observations of structure.
As an emerging designer, I have learned to work in a range of media, always striving to achieve a high level of quality in my work. I have developed skills in and a passion for woodwork, metalwork and working with wool and textiles, based on an interest in traditional crafts. During my time at university, I learned techniques in ceramic and CAD design, but chose to specialise in metals, specifically jewellery. In my final year, I created a collection of floral and forest-inspired jewellery based on a quote from Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery. I aimed to inspire joy, hope and memories of nature through allusions using light, shape and colour.
